Add the nori (seaweed) and dried tangerine peel and grind again briefly. Stir in the remaining spices and blend well. Chili seasoning mix should be made primarily from ground chiles. - Today I used Dried Chilli Flakes, Dried Ginger, Dried Mandarin Orange Rind, Dried Yuzu Rind, Toasted Sesame Seeds.
- All ingredients must be dry. Using a Suribachi (Japanese mortar) or grinder, grind each ingredient into small flakes, and combine.
- *Make a small amount. - *Do not grind Toasted Sesame Seeds too much as Oil would come out. - *You need to take extra caution when you grind Dried Chilli.
Chili seasoning mix should be made primarily from ground chiles. Ancho and chipotle are two of the most commonly found ground chiles in most grocery stores and what we call for in this recipe. Anchos have a slight musky flavor, while chipotles are smoky and a little more fiery. Homemade Chili Seasoning is the best DIY spice mix and tastes great in everything from ground turkey and beef to vegan chili recipes. Chili seasoning is similar to homemade taco seasoning and fajita seasoning, with many of the same ingredients but has more of an emphasis on chili powder.
