- Heat oil in a pRessure cooker.
- After the oil heats up put dry red chilli, bay leaf, jeera and cinnamon and let it splatter.
- Put onions, black chickpeas and green chillis and fry till the onions turn translucent.
- Then put in the rice and fry it for 5-7 mins.
- Then put in cardamom, coriander powder, turmeric powder, sugar and salt and fry till the spices are cooked well.
- Then put in 1 litre water and close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook till one whistle blows in the pressure cooker on low flame.
- After it gets cooked open the lid and pour in the ghee. And your namkeen chawal is ready to serve.
