The vegetables I usually add in dalia Khichdi are carrots, peas, potatoes, onions, cauliflowers, french beans and tomatoes. For a punch, you can also little capsicum also. Peas and potatoes are often used in most vegetable dalia recipes. You can also add some mung lentils in this dalia khichdi.
Instructions to make Mix vegetable namkeen dalia:
- First wash and soak dalia for 1 to 2 hours. Also wash,rinse and chop all vegetables.
- Take a pan,add oil and heat well. then add mustard seeds. Once splutters add asafoetida and curry leaves.
- Now add onions,saute for 3 to 4 minutes then add carrot and capsicum. Cover the pan and let it cook on low heat. Check in between and stir.
- Once cooked well add chopped tomatoes and mix.Also add salt, turmeric powder,red chilli powder. Mix nicely. And let it cook on low heat.
- After the vegetables are cooked well add dalia (drain water from dalia and save water as it will be utilized)
- Add 1/2 to 3/4 cup water and mix.
- Cook for 5 to 5 minutes on low heat.
- Adjust salt and consistency. Switch off the heat.
- Serve hot adding fresh coriander leaves.
Peas and potatoes are often used in most vegetable dalia recipes. You can also add some mung lentils in this dalia khichdi. Peel and chop onion finely and shallow fry in vegetable oil till slightly golden brown. Turn on Saute Button, heat oil, add cumin seeds, ginger and garlic.
